Prep: 10 min | Bake: 20 min | Total: 30 min | Serves: 6–8 | Difficulty: Easy

Everything you love about French onion soup — the deep, caramelized onion sweetness, the melted Gruyère, the rich balsamic undertone — baked into a warm, bubbly dip that's ready in 20 minutes. The secret is Terrapin Ridge Farms Balsamic Onion Jam, a small-batch gourmet jam packed with slow-cooked onion and balsamic tang that does the heavy flavor lifting so you don't have to. Set it out with crostini, crackers, and crudités and watch it become the center of gravity at any gathering.

Recipe: French Onion Soup Dip Serves 6–8 as an appetizer

Ingredients:

  • 1 jar (11 oz) Terrapin Ridge Farms Balsamic Onion Jam

  • 1 block (8 oz) cream cheese, at room temperature

  • 1 cup (4 oz) shredded Gruyère cheese

  • ½ cup sour cream

  • 4 slices cooked bacon, finely chopped (about ¼ cup), divided

  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves, plus more for garnish

  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

  • Crostini, crackers, and/or crudités for serving

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the Balsamic Onion Jam, cream cheese, Gruyère, sour cream, thyme, half the bacon, and a few cracks of black pepper. Stir until smooth and well combined.

  3. Transfer to a small baking dish or cast iron skillet and spread evenly. Sprinkle the remaining bacon over the top.

  4. Bake for 20 minutes until golden and bubbling.

  5. Garnish with fresh thyme and serve immediately with your favorite dippers.
