Balsamic Glazed Strawberries
This is one of those recipes that feels almost too simple until you taste it — and then you understand completely. Ripe strawberries macerated with sugar and your choice of balsamic transform in the refrigerator over a couple of hours, releasing their juices into a glossy, deeply flavored syrup that's part dessert sauce, part magic. The balsamic you choose tells the whole story: Strawberry Balsamic for pure berry intensity, Dark Chocolate Balsamic for something more indulgent, Black Cherry Balsamic for a rich, wintry version that's stunning over vanilla ice cream.
Recipe: Balsamic Glazed Strawberries
Serves 4
Ingredients:
1 pint ripe strawberries
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp Nika's Olive Balsamic of your choice (see suggestions below)
Instructions:
Hull the strawberries and cut into quarters lengthwise.
Place in a bowl and toss with the sugar and balsamic until evenly coated.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, stirring once halfway through. The strawberries will release their juices and the sugar will dissolve into a beautiful glaze.
Stir again just before serving.
Balsamic Pairings to Try:
Strawberry Balsamic — pure, bright, and berry-forward
Dark Chocolate Balsamic — rich and decadent, perfect over ice cream or brownies
Black Cherry Balsamic — deep and slightly tart, beautiful with vanilla or cheesecake
Lavender Balsamic — floral and elegant, stunning over panna cotta or pound cake
Aged Traditional Balsamic — for the most classic, complex version
Serving Ideas: Spooned over vanilla ice cream, layered into a parfait with whipped cream and granola, served alongside our Orange & Cranberry Balsamic Granola, or simply eaten with a spoon straight from the bowl. Also wonderful over pound cake, angel food cake, or cheesecake.
