Two Olive Oil Breakfast Smoothies Worth Waking Up For
Adding olive oil to a smoothie sounds like a bold choice until you try it — and then it just makes sense. A tablespoon of good extra virgin olive oil rounds out the texture, adds a silky richness, and delivers a dose of heart-healthy polyphenols that no protein powder can match. These two smoothies are our favorites: one bright and herbal, one deep and berry-forward. Both come together in under five minutes and keep you going all morning.
Green Goddess Smoothie
Smoothie No. 1 — Green Goddess
Serves 1
Light, creamy, and surprisingly satisfying, this one gets its herbal character from our Basil Infused Olive Oil — though Persian Lime or Lemon Olive Oil are equally wonderful if you want to go in a brighter, more citrusy direction.
Ingredients:
1 cup fresh spinach
1 ripe banana
½ avocado
1 tbsp Basil Infused Olive Oil (or try Persian Lime or Lemon Olive Oil)
1 cup almond milk or your favorite dairy/non-dairy milk
Drizzle of honey, optional
Instructions:
Add all ingredients to a blender.
Blend until smooth and creamy.
Pour and serve immediately.
Chia Blueberry Smoothie
Smoothie No. 2 — Chia Blueberry
Makes 1 large or 2 smaller servings
The trick here is soaking the chia seeds in Strawberry Balsamic before blending — it plumps them up and infuses a bright berry tang into every sip. Use our Single Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil here to keep the fruit flavors front and center without adding any herbal notes.
Ingredients:
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 fresh banana, sliced
1 cup packed fresh baby kale
2 tbsp Single Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 tbsp chia seeds
2–3 tbsp Strawberry Balsamic (for soaking chia seeds)
Instructions:
At least 20 minutes before blending, soak the chia seeds in the Strawberry Balsamic and set aside.
Add the soaked chia seeds, olive oil, and banana to the blender. Blend until smooth.
Add the baby kale and frozen blueberries. Blend again until completely smooth.
Pour and serve immediately.
Why Olive Oil Belongs in Your Smoothie: The healthy fats in extra virgin olive oil actually help your body absorb the fat-soluble vitamins in leafy greens — so that spinach and kale are working harder when paired with a good oil. It also adds a creamy body that makes these smoothies feel genuinely filling, not just a quick sugar hit. Try mixing up the berries and balsamic flavors in the Chia Blueberry for even more variety — Blueberry Balsamic, Peach Balsamic, or Mango White Balsamic all work beautifully.
